Radon Facts that everyone should know...

The US Surgeon General identified Radon as the second leading cause of lung cancer.

The EPA and World Health organization estimate that Radon is responsible for over 25,000 cancer deaths annually, 10 times greater than Carbon Monoxide.

Radon is colorless, tasteless and odorless radioactive gas produced by the breakdown of uranium in the soil. When allowed to accumulate to high levels it can be hazardous to your health.

All homes have a measurable level of Radon... These levels can vary from season to season and month to month moving from within safe levels to above the EPA 4.0 pCi/L (4 pico-Curies per liter) action level.

Radon can be a problem in homes of all types: old homes, new homes, drafty homes, insulated homes, homes with basements, and homes without basements. Local geology, construction materials, and how the home was built are some of the factors that affect radon levels in homes.

The EPA recommends corrective action should be taken if Radon levels should average at or above 4.0 pCi/L.
